Christian Education

Our Christian Education ministry is under the direction of Marilyn Sommer and the Board of Christian Education.

Sunday School classes are offered at 9 and 11 AM each Sunday morning (10 AM during the summer.) Children worship with their parents for the first part of the service, then are dismissed to class.

Noah's Nursery is an adult-supervised nursery for infants and toddlers.

Vacation Bible School, held for one week every summer, is a popular way for children to learn more about the Bible, with activities that include crafts, music and games.

The Avon Lake UCC sends more children, youth and adults to our UCC summer camps than any other congregation in the Ohio Conference. Scholarship assistance is offered to each individual.

Adult Education opportunities are offered throughout the year and include Bible studies, a book club, and a women's investment group.

Jack-N-Jill Nursery School offers quality pre-school education for three year-olds through pre-K. Classes fill up quickly, and church members receive first priority. Please contact the Director, Debbie Pettys, about registration deadlines and other information.

The church library is lovingly maintained by ALUCC member Diane Bayley and is stocked with materials for children, youth and adults.

Faith and Fitness exercise classes meet two days per week in daytime and evening sessions. (Mondays and Thursdays at 11 AM; Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 PM.)

Other educational events include Pre-Confirmation classes for 4th graders, a Fall Festival, and an Advent Workshop.

Many of our youth are active in the church, serving as Sunday School Teachers and assistants, Noah's Nursery workers, ushers, greeters, and TV/Audio volunteers. We welcome the full participation of youth on boards and committees.
