Membership

We are a diverse congregation. Most of our members did not grow up in the United Church of Christ but have found this church to be the right place where our faith can grow. We encourage guests, questions, and participation. Please contact the church office or any member of our staff if you would like to learn more.

Those who wish to learn more about membership in the Avon Lake United Church of Christ are invited to Inquirer's Classes (usually held three times per year.) The classes are not required for membership, but are highly recommended. They provide an opportunity for orientation and for meeting staff, lay leaders, and others who are joining the church. Youth and adults are welcomed into membership by profession of faith (joining a church for the first time), or by transfer of membership. 8th graders join through the Confirmation class.

INQUIRER’S CLASSES

If you, or someone you know, is interested in joining our church or learning more about the UCC and ALUCC, we will be offering two sessions of our Inquirers' Classes early in the fall.

The first class offers a basic introduction to the history and theology of the United Church of Christ, and a personal message from Senior Minister Kelly Brill. The second class will focus on the Avon Lake UCC with a tour of our facilities and guest speakers from staff, boards and committees. Classes for prospective members will be held in February. Lunch will be provided both days by the Board of Membership. Please write to Tim Schulz, Membership Coordinator, at membership@thealucc.org with questions or to RSVP. Babysitting is offered upon request.
