Although there have been several different views and opinions on the topic of why one should accept Jesus into their lives the purpose of this article stands to elaborate on the importance of the issue at hand in a way that doesn't intend to retract nor argue other opinions and beliefs but instead seeks to tell the truth whole heartedly in a way that enlightens the mind of all who read this entry.
There are at least 54 different Bible verses that deal with, in one way or another, the topic of accepting Jesus into one's life and while the list is quite extensive it is worth noting a few of them in order to set the table in understanding the basics of why accepting Jesus. The Bible states that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). As a result, Jesus sought to impart unto those whom he walked with daily the truths and precepts by which one should live by.
In addition, it is important to accept Jesus into your life because the Bible states that it shall be done. According to Acts 4:12 it states that there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. You see Jesus loved each of us so much that he choose to die on the cross for each of our sins. By dying on the cross he not only stated that he was willing to take on the sins of the world but also did it because he loved us so.
Furthermore, Romans 3:23 states that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. From the day that each of us were born (in sin) God had a plan, and continuously does, for our lives. So no matter what has been done it has all been forgiven through the covering of the saving blood. For it is by his blood that we are cleansed, redeemed, saved, and set free from the past lives that have been lived.
Another reason why accepting Jesus is important is because he is not only the way to Heaven but also he seeks to abide in us so that he can have a willing vessel through which he can work through. That said, in order for this to work our spirits should be pure and blameless in the sight of the Lord for we are the church and, although, we are in no way shape or form perfect we should strive to be for it says in his word be ye holy, as I am holy. Finally, one last scripture (among others) worth exploring is Acts 2:38 which discusses water baptism in Jesus' name and receiving the Holy Ghost, 2 key elements in accepting Jesus into your heart.
